This is my first entree into the blogosphere. What drives me is helping my family of four manage food allergies of one.
Olivia is 3 years old and her food allergy reactions have been getting worse. Initially, symptoms were hives. Recently, they've included vomiting (3 times) in the last two months.
The first time was in June at Starbucks. I ordered a soy steamer and they gave her regular milk. Within 10 minutes, she was screaming in pain (Daddy, help!!!) and threw up several times. Since then, I have talked with 3 people at Starbucks and my goal is to get them to take food allergies more seriously (and "flag" orders like mine with, for example, a special sticker). But more on that later...
The second time was a few weeks later when she had vegan "Hawaiin" cookies that included mango.
The third time she had a severe reaction, and threw up, was early July when she at flax seed cereal.
We are going to see a specialist in NY in October and hope we can manage to keep Olivia thriving until then (we are bit nervous about her starting pre school in September, though)
